Advanced Manufacturing Competency Model
The competency model framework for Advanced Manufacturing was developed through a collaborative effort involving the Employment and Training Administration (ETA) and leading industry organizations.
ETA worked with industry partners, including for the first time the rapidly growing semiconductor industry, to update the Advanced Manufacturing model framework in January 2020. The updated model represented a unification of competencies across a wider range of industries related to Advanced Manufacturing. It improved skills transparency to support a deeper workforce pipeline and allow job seekers, training providers and employers to have greater alignment and efficiency in recruiting, training, retaining and upskilling talent in US-based Advanced Manufacturing.
In December 2021, the National Institute for Industry and Career Advancement (NIICA) contributed to a refresh of the 2020 model framework based on industry stakeholder input and feedback collected through its talent development web portal.
