Home Energy Professional - Installation/Site Management Competency Model
The Home Energy Professional – Installation/Site Management Competency Model was developed through a collaborative effort involving the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the Employment and Training Administration (ETA) to identify the soft skills and foundational competencies, as well as to define the technical knowledge, skills, and abilities, needed by installation Crew Leaders (CL) in the home performance industry. The model builds on Job Task Analyses (JTA) conducted by NREL to improve the quality of residential retrofits and increase energy savings in the residential market by supporting improved curricula, training, and certification of Crew Leaders. Development of the model was funded by the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) under the Guidelines for Home Energy Professionals project.
