There are several optional sections that you might include in your resume.
Depending on your unique experiences or circumstances, you might include one or more sections such as:
- Professional memberships or associations
- Publications or other work products
- Community involvement or volunteering
- Awards or honors you've achieved
- Or any other topic that reflects your qualifications and relates to your work goals
Maya highlights her professional association memberships:
To use this section well:
- The heading depends on the information you want to include. For example, if you have received awards relevant to your job target, you could create a section named “Special Awards”.
- You can have more than one of these optional sections just make a heading for each one. For example, Professional Associations and Volunteer Work.
- List information in order of importance. Maya lists the Project Management Institute first, to emphasize this important credential.
- Relevance to your job goal is the key. You may have placed well in a ultramarathon, but unless your career requires physical fitness, it doesn't need to go on your resume.
