Award Type Fellowship
Purpose To recognize a persons who have already completed their formal professional training.
Focus History, American; Humanities.
Qualifications Applicants must be a degree candidates and persons seeking support for work in pursuit of a degree may not hold AAS-NEH fellowships; candidates for advanced degrees must have completed all requirements, except for the actual conferral of the degree, by the application deadline for the fellowship; this includes the dissertation defense; foreign nationals who have been residents in the United States for at least three years immediately preceding the application deadline for the fellowship are eligible; mid-career scholars are encouraged to apply.
Criteria Selection will be based on the applicant's scholarly qualifications, the scholarly significance or importance of the project, and the appropriateness of the proposed study to the Society's collection; preference will be given to individuals who have not held long-term fellowships during the three years preceding the period for which the application is being made.
Funds $5,000
Duration Annual; 4 to 12 months.
Number of Awards Varies.
To Apply Applicants must submit online application form; materials: current CV; description of proposed research project; one page bibliography of relevant secondary literature; list of other funding sources for project; two letters of recommendation.
Deadline January 15.
