Award Type Scholarship
Purpose To support graduating Waianae High School seniors majoring in education, preferably those involved in the Waianae High School Teaching Academy (WHSTA).
Focus Education; Teaching.
Qualifications Applicant must be a resident of Hawaii and a graduating high school senior from Waianae High School; must be enrolled, or planning to enroll, as a full-time student at an accredited two- or four-year, not-for-profit educational institution in the United States (including U.S. territories); must be majoring in education; must have a minimum 3.4 GPA and minimum 24 on the ACT; must demonstrate financial need.
Duration Annual.
To Apply Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation, one form a teacher and one from the principal, and an essay describing their desire to help and instill a belief in all children that learning is possible, their intent to return to their community to teach, and talk about one book on education they have read in the last year and how it influences their teaching philosophy.
