As part of the Global Project Controls & Assurance team, the Lead Estimator is responsible to lead the Front-end Estimation of Capital Projects in Feasibility & Concept stages within our global Innovative Medicine and Med-Tech sectors. Candidate must have experience to produce top-down/factored/statistical estimates as well as hybrid bottom-up/detailed/mechanical estimates when design information becomes available.

The Lead Estimator will need to have extensive knowledge of electronic measurement & take-offs of CAD/PDF drawings, site set-up, and logistics, market rates for key sub-contract trades, location factors, principal risks, facilities & IT equipment, equipment install, application of indirect cost additions for different project types, and design development vs design level.

In addition, the Lead Estimator will have a thorough understanding of construction methods and technologies; geotechnical techniques; off-site manufacturing impacts on cost/schedule vs traditional methods; design stages through the project lifecycle; different approaches to commissioning & qualification; BMS/EMS and associated facilities systems; procurement approaches; project scheduling/planning and typical sequence of critical paths

The Lead Estimator will have working relationships with the E&PS Global Project Delivery team, cross-functional business teams and external partners.

Qualifications

Education:

  • University/Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; focused degree preferred in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, or similar field

Experience and Skills

Required:

  • Minimum of eight to ten (8-10) years of relevant work experience

  • Experience of Estimating Greenfield & Brownfield Construction Sites, Facilities & Facility Utilities, Process Equipment & Utilities, Client End-to-End Costs

  • Construction field experience on capital construction project

  • SAGE (TIMBERLINE) Estimating software

  • Creation of estimating databases, spreadsheet modules & estimating libraries

Preferred:

  • Understanding of Pharmaceutical & Medical Device manufacturing processes

  • Understanding of Chem/Bio labs classifications and controls

  • Knowledge of global construction practices

  • Knowledge of Project Controls / Financial functions and interactions

Other:

  • Requires up to 50% domestic and/or international travel

  • The anticipated base pay range for this position is $118,000 to $203,550.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

  • Vacation - up to 120 hours per calendar year

  • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington - up to 56 hours per calendar year

  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays - up to 13 days per calendar year

  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
