Summary This position is part of the Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Sandia Field Office (SFO). A successful candidate in this position will serve as Security Specialist, with responsibility for providing oversight of protection and control of sensitive or classified information and Special Nuclear Material (SNM) at Sandia National Laboratories. Responsibilities As a Security Specialist, you will: Comprehensive knowledge of DOE / NNSA Safeguards and Security program requirements to function as a technical authority in assignments requiring the application of existing and new theories and developments to security problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted security methods, technology, or procedures. Serves as a security expert for the SFO and is responsible for performing day-to-day safeguards and security oversight and ensuring compliance and performance throughout the Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) sites. Performs oversight duties, including assessments, corrective action/issues management, performance measurement and operating experience to conduct system analysis of the contractor's performance in assigned areas of oversight responsibility. Prepares correspondence, reports, and briefing materials for both Internal and external audiences. Serves as a team member on performance and compliance-based assessments, program reviews, self-assessments and audits focused on SFO and contractor security program operations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Subject to Random Drug Testing Must pass a pre-employment drug test. Favorable suitability determination required. Must be able to obtain/maintain a Q level Security Clearance. You must be a United States Citizen. This employer participates in the e-Verify program. A one year probationary period may be required. Qualifications SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal Service i.e., NQ-02 or GS-12. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Applicants must possess at least 2 of the 3 below. 1. Oversight of security programs and functions. 2. Conducting system analysis of the security performance in assigned areas of oversight responsibility. 3. Serving as a security team member on performance and compliance-based assessments, program reviews, self-assessments and audits. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must meet all of the requirements as described in this section. If you are eligible for career transition assistance plans such as ICTAP or CTAP, you must meet the definition of "well qualified" which is defined as having a score of 85 or better.
