Purpose To encourage and enable Latinos and/or Spanish speakers to pursue or advance a career in Library and Information Science.
Focus Library and archival sciences.
Qualifications Applicants must show evidence of commitment to a career in librarianship and the potential for high academic standing; applicants already enrolled in graduate school must have two semesters of work remaining before they get their degree; they should also have grades of a B or better; applicants should demonstrate an understanding of and desire to serve the Spanish- speaking community; the recipients must display character and leadership, which are essential for success both as a student and as a professional.
Criteria Selection will be based on the aforementioned applicant's qualifications and compliance with the application details; preference is given to applicants who plan on serving Hispanic/Latinos and the Spanish-speaking community.
Funds $1,500
Duration One academic year.
Number of Awards Varies.
To Apply Applicants must be submit completed application & current resume; two letters of reference from professors, employers, librarians or other professionals (excluding family) who are well acquainted with the applicant's educational background, intellectual abilities, and personal character; recommendations must be sent by the recommender via email.
Deadline March 15.
