Volt is immediately hiring for a Pipe Welder in New Prague, MN. As a Pipe Welder you will:
  • Perform welding and other related manufacturing activities with minimal instruction and supervision
  • Layout, assemble and weld according to drawings, work instructions, and weld procedures.
  • Ability to judge the type and gauge of steel to be welded, and make proper head adjustments as required by welding procedures.
  • Position welded metal parts on fixtures; attached jigs & clamps as needed to hold metal parts in proper position for welding.
  • Perform complete welding and finishing operations for unit repair.
  • Train and instruct other welders.
  • Use various handling devices in conjunction with welding tasks.
  • Accurately maintain required documentation.
  • Utilize visual examination.
  • Observe and practice safety procedures and policies, participate in safety program and department meetings.
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.

This is a full-time, night shift opportunity:

  • Monday - Thursday: 2:45pm-12:45am (Night shift is eligible for a $2.00 per hour shift differential)
  • Some overtime is required
  • Training will be on day shift; Monday: 8am to 2:15 first day; Tues - Th: 5:45am - 2:15pm

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Technical welding diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Print reading course including welding symbols.
  • Experience pipe welding down to 3/8 inch diameter is required.
  • Ability to comprehend complex blueprints and weld symbols.
  • Previous experience performing GMAW, GTAW, and Sub-arc welding.
  • Experience with air-arc gouging and operation of plasma cutting machines.
  • Ability to accurately measure using devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Successful ability to pass certification tests.

Pay Rate: $24.27-33.08/hr. + $2 shift differential; per diem offered to eligible candidates
