License Description
SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
Applies non-medical procedures for measurement, testing, assessment, prediction, consultation or instruction in relation to development disorders of speech, voice or language or oral, pharyngeal and laryngeal sensorimotor competencies.
REQUIREMENTS:
Be at least 18 years of age, of good moral character, and satisfy education and examination requirements.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A Master's Degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited institution.
EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS:
ASHA certified or has taken the Praxis examination in Speech Pathology with a minimum score of 600 or 162, depending on the version taken; administered by Education Testing Service, Princeton, New Jersey 08541.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
A minimum of 10 hours per year of approved coursework.
RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS:
Every two years contingent on satisfying continuing education requirements.
