Hunting and Fishing Guides
License Description
Applicants for a Master Guide's license must: 1) Be at least 21 years old and of good moral character. 2) Pass the appropriate written test (hunting and/or fishing). 3) Submit proof of current first aid certification (Red Cross or as approved by the Department). 4) Obtain the required insurance and authorize a credit check. 5) Meet the experience and training requirements*. * There are three combinations of training and/or prior experience (as a subguide, or as a master guide, professional guide, registered guide or outfitter in another state or foreign country) that fulfill this requirement. Additional Requirements: 6) Hunting guide applicants must submit proof of successful completion of a hunting safety course. 7) Fishing guide applicants who will be using a boat must submit proof of a Coast Guard license (if applicable for the body of water they will be guiding on - Lake Tahoe or the Colorado River) or proof of passing the Nevada boating safety exam. Applicants for a Subguide license must be at least 18 years old, meet requirements 2 and 3, and provide verification of the master guide(s) they will be working for. Additional Requirements 6 and 7, relating to hunter and boater safety, also apply to Subguides. The application period is May 1st - June 30th each year. Fees may be subject to change. Fees are: Subguide application -- $50; Subguide license - $125 (residents) or $250 (nonresidents); Master Guide application --$1,500; Master Guide license -- $750 (residents) or $1,500 (nonresidents).
