Apprentice Cosmetologist
License Description GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Provides cutting, permanent waving, dressing, styling, finger waving, marvelling, coloring, pressing, tinting. bleaching, and shampooing of hair for customers. Gives facials and massages scalp applies cosmetics, lotions, powders, oils and other preparations. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must have completed tenth (10) grade plus 1800 hours in an approved school of cosmetology. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Examinations in September through June, with dates set by the regulatory agency. Type examination; written and practical. Must score a minimum of 70% in each area. Regulatory agency provides applications. School must submit 1800 hour certification. Examination fee of $25.00. Should you fail, contact the regulatory agency. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION Applicant must be at least sixteen (16) years of age. Must be of good moral character and temperate habit. First fee of $12.00. All licenses renewed annually, with expiration date being July 31, at fee of $10.00. Reciprocity with other states vary. Contact the regulatory agency for specifics.
