Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
License Description Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurses, Nurse Midwives, and Nurse Anesthetists must be licensed by the State of Idaho as an Advanced Practice Professional Nurse (APPN). To become licensed applicants must complete an approved registered nursing program, pass an exam, and and be licensed as a registered nurse. To become licensed as a Nurse Practitioner, applicants must also: 1.) Complete an accredited advanced practice, nurse practitioner program; 2.) Pass an exam; 3.) Obtain national certification. To become licensed as a Clinical Nurse, applicants must also: 1.) Complete a graduate Nursing program; 2.) Pass an exam; 3.) Obtain national certification. To become licensed as a Nurse Midwife, applicants must also: 1.) Complete an accredited advanced practice nurse midwifery Program; 2.) Pass an exam; 3.) Obtain national certification. To become licensed as a Nurse Anesthetist, applicants must also: 1.) Complete an accredited advanced practice nurse anesthesia program; 2.) Pass an exam; 3.) Obtain national certification. Term: Licenses are renewed bi-annually.
