HVAC Journeyman
License Description Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) workers must be licensed in the State of Idaho. There are three certificates of competency available to HVAC workers: apprentice registration, journeyman license, and contractor’s license. HVAC Journeyman applicants must: 1.) Document a minimum of four (4) years of work experience as a registered HVAC apprentice; 2.) Complete four (4) years of approved HVAC apprenticeship school; 3.) Pass an exam. Specialty licenses are available in the areas of: Hearth, Fuel Gas Piping, Waste Oil Heating, and LP Limited Heating. HVAC specialty journeyman must: 1.) Document required work experience as a registered HVAC Specialty Apprentice; 2.) Complete specific education required for that specialty type; 3.) Pass an exam. Term: Licenses are valid for three years before renewal.
