License Description DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) cares for ill, injured, convalescent, and handicapped persons in all settings including, but not limited to hospitals, clinics, private homes, sanitariums, and similar institutions under the direction of a Advanced Practice RN, Registered Nurse, or Physician. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Personal requirements: Submit FBI electronic fingerprint for criminal background history check. Education requirements: Graduate from a board-approved nursing program. EXAMINATIONS: National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX). FEES: $40 for application, $54 for 2-year license, $40 for Center for Nursing special fund, and $100 for biennial compliance resolution fund. Renewal every 2 years is $36. OTHER: There were 1,407 licenses currently active as of February 24, 2022. ~ revised 12/20
