License Description
Fees: Application: For current fee schedule, please refer to the Board's website at https://www.bpelsg.ca.gov/applicants/licensee_fees.shtml. Examination Requirements: six-hour National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES) Principles and Practices of Surveying (PS), a four-hour California-specific examination on land surveying, and Take-Home California State Laws and Board Rules Exam. Renewal (currently every 2 years): For current fee schedule, please refer to the Board's website at https://www.bpelsg.ca.gov/applicants/licensee_fees.shtml. Examination Frequency: NCEES exam is given semi-annually (April and October). California State Specific exam is given annually (April). For final filing dates see our website: www.bpelsg.ca.gov. Exam Locations: Statewide at designated locations. See website www.bpelsg.ca.gov. Experience Requirement: With a Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) certificate, six years of equivalent full-time experience in land surveying, including other credits, with one year each of responsible field training and responsible office training. See website: www.bpelsg.ca.gov. Waiver of the Fundamentals of Surveying exam is available if applicant is a Professional Engineer in California, or has a valid certificate as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT), or is a graduate of an approved four-year land surveying curriculum and submits satisfactory evidence of 15 years or more of qualifying experience, or is a graduate of a land surveying curriculum, with a B.S. degree or equivalent, and submits satisfactory evidence of 17 years or more of qualifying experience, or holds a valid LSIT certificate from another state.
