License Description Fees: Initial license $450 and fingerprint; $49 Biennial: $300 (plus any delinquency fees, if you did not renew on time). Examination Frequency: National exam administered in February and August. Exam Locations: Sacramento. Experience Requirement: Three years approved postsecondary midwifery program. Challenge mechanism available. Average Time to Process Application: 30-45 days. Renewal Period: Biennially (every second year). Special License Requirements: Certified Nurse Midwives are licensed by the Board of Registered Nurses. Authority: Business and Professions Code, Sections 2505-2521.
