Studio Teachers Certificate
License Description
Teachers possessing a valid California Teaching Credential issued by the California Teacher Credentialing Office (CTC) who tutor minors working in the entertainment industry. The criteria for teaching credentials that satisfy the requirements of Section 11755(a) are found in California Code of Regulations, Title 8, Chapter 6, Subchapter 2, Article 1, Section 11755(d). The teaching credential listed in (5) or (6) of subsection (d) of this section [Section 11755] must be in one of the following subject areas: English, Math, Social Science, Science or Foreign Language. Definitions of criteria for each subject are found at California Code of Regulations, Title 8, Chapter 6, Subchapter 2, Article 1, Section 11755(c) Fees: N/A Examination Frequency: Every 3 years. Exam Locations: Statewide Experience Requirement: Knowledge of California child labor laws as they pertain to the entertainment industry. Average Time to Process Application: 4 to 6 weeks. Certification Period: Certification by the Labor Commissioner shall be for a maximum three-year period, not to exceed the earliest expiration date of any one of the qualifying teaching credentials submitted in support of certification. California Code of Regulations, Title 8, Chapter 6, Subchapter 2, Article 1, Section 11755(b). Renewal Period: Every 3 years. Special License Requirements: Applicants must hold valid elementary and secondary teaching credentials. New applicants must attend a 12-hour class and renewal applicants a 3-hour class on child labor laws in the entertainment industry.
