Traffic Violator School Operator License
License Description Person who owns a Traffic Violator School that offers traffic safety instruction for individuals referred by a court. Fees: Application: $100; Renewal: $75; License Transfer: $50; Replacement or Duplicate: $15; Family Support Program: $1; Test fee $16 Examination Frequency: Initial application and every 2 years. Exam Locations: Multiple Experience Requirement: Must have worked for an established licensed California traffic violator school, driving school, or an established commercial driving training and education program operated by a bona fide labor organization as an instructor for a period of not less than 500 hours of actual in-class instruction. Average Time to Process Application: 120 days. May issue temporary permit. Renewal Period: Two years following date of issuance. Special License Requirements: Be 21 years of age or older; pass background investigation; employed by a licensed traffic violator school; pass the written examination; 500 hour certification; evidence of completion of an approved 8-hour operator educational program. Comments: A traffic violator school owner license does not authorize you to give instruction.
