License Description Technicians inspecting, testing and repairing vehicle emissions control systems in accordance with the Smog Check Program. Fees: Application: $20; Renewal: $20. Exam fee: $40.50 Exam Locations: Examinations are administered at the PSI examination centers in California. Experience Requirement: See "Special License Requirements" below. Average Time to Process Application: 30 days. Renewal Period: License is valid for two years. Expires last day of month of birth. Special License Requirements: Completion of required training and/or qualifying experience; ASE certification and update training as required. Comments: N/A Authority: California Code of Regulations, Title 16, Sections 3340.28 and 3340.29; Health and Safety Code, Sections 44031.5, 44032.
