Lobbyist
License Description
A Lobbyist is a person who receives or expends four hundred dollars ($400.00) or more in a calendar quarter for purposes of communicating directly or soliciting others to communicate with any public servant with the purpose of influencing legislative action or administrative action. The term public servant includes all public officials (i.e., legislators or other persons holding elective office), public employees (i.e. individuals employed by a governmental body), and public appointees (i.e., individuals appointed to a governmental body). Requirements: 1) A lobbyist shall register online no later than 5 days after beginning lobbying. 2) Each registered lobbyist shall re-register by January 15 each year. 3) Must file online activity reports (monthly when in legislative session; otherwise, quarterly). All accounts, bills, receipts and any other documents needed to substantiate these reports must be held for 4 years and must be made available upon request for inspection by the Ethics Commission. No Examinations or Fees.
