Nurse Midwife (APRN-CNM)
License Description
Occupational Description
An APRN-CNM is an individual who holds a basic RN license with additional education in prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care of mothers and babies, as well as normal obstetrical and gynecological care for women, is certified in that focus area, and holds an APRN license in Nebraska. In addition to the RN scope of practice and within the APRN role of women's health care, APRN-CNM practice can include conducting advanced assessment; ordering and interpreting diagnostic procedures; establishing primary and differential diagnoses; prescribing, ordering, administering, and furnishing therapeutic measures; delegating and assigning therapeutic measures to assistive personnel; and consulting with other disciplines and providing referrals to health care agencies, health care providers, and community resources.
Licensure Requirements
Applicants must: 1. Meet the Nebraska RN licensure requirements, or hold a valid multistate compact license with privilege to work in Nebraska; 2. Submit an official transcript documenting completion of an approved advanced practice registered nurse anesthesia program; 3. Submit formal documentation of having passed a Board-approved certification examination.
Fees
APRN License Fee- $68.00 RN License Fee- $123.00 Criminal Background Check Processing Fee- $45.25 Certification Fees- Vary by national certification body standards.
Renewal
APRN and RN licenses must be renewed by October 31 of each even-numbered year. The renewal fee is $68.00 for the APRN license, and $123.00 for the RN license.
