License Description WEIGHTS AND MEASURES SERVICEPERSON

Installs, services, repairs or reconditions a commercial weighing or measuring device for hire, award, commission or any other payment of any kind.

PROSPECTIVE:
Certification for a device is required for any service that can affect the accuracy of measurement of the device, accuracy of charges or fees derived by the use of the device, or the metrological integrity of the device. Only a certified serviceperson has authority to remove an official rejection tag or seal placed on a device by authority of the Commissioner; place in service a device that has been officially rejected until an examination can be made; or place in service a new or used weighing or measuring device.

REQUIREMENTS:
Provide acceptable evidence of being fully qualified by training or experience to install, service, repair, or recondition a commercial weighing or measuring device; having thorough working knowledge of all appropriate weights and measures laws, orders, rules and regulations; and having possession of or available for use and intention to use calibrated weights and measures standards and testing equipment appropriate in design and adequate in amount. Certification authority is authorized to administer a written examination of applicant's knowledge.
