Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
License Description
Occupational Description
A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is an individual who has graduated from an approved nursing program with a diploma in practical nursing, has passed the NCLEX-PN, and holds a current Nebraska license (or has a multi-state compact privilege to practice in Nebraska). The LPN works at the direction of the Registered Nurse or licensed practitioner and contributes to nursing assessments, participates in the development and implementation of plans of care, and contributes to the evaluation of responses of care or nursing care plans.
Licensure Requirements
Applicants must:1. Submit an official transcript documenting completion ofthe basic curriculum in an approved program of practicalnursing or a Board-approved military equivalent program;2. Be either a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfullyadmitted into the United States who is eligible for a credentialunder the Uniform Credentialing Act, or a nonimmigrantwho is lawfully present in the United States and who iseligible for a credential under the Uniform Credentialing Act;3. Pass the NCLEX-PN exam.
Fees
NCLEX-PN Examination Fee- $200.00 License Application Fee- $123.00 Criminal Background Check Processing Fee- $45.25
Renewal
Renewal is required biennially by October 31 of each odd-numbered year. The renewal fee is $123.00.
