License Description
This certification is for employees of public libraries that serve a population under 50,000 and do not have an employee with a Master's in Library Science (MLS) performing the administrator, reference and children's librarian duties; it does not apply to individuals who hold a MLS. Applicants for certification must: 1a) Have a bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of library experience, or 1b) Have an associate degree and at least 4 years of library experience, or 1c) Have a high school diploma or GED and at least 7 years of library experience. 2) Have taken 21 semester credit hours in subjects specified by State Library and Archives. 3) Submit two fingerprint cards. 4) Provide a professional letter of recommendation. The completed application must be notarized and official transcripts are required (no photocopies).
