Law Enforcement Training Instructor, General
License Description
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Provides classroom instruction in general law enforcement topics, specialized law enforcement fields, management and supervision of law enforcement personnel; and performs other duties as required. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Graduate of a college or university, with a bachelor's degree in law enforcement or a law enforcement related field, supplemented by three years of experience in law enforcement. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Contact the regulatory agency for applications. Examination scheduled as vacancies occur. General knowledge test, with oral interview and classroom presentation, using comparative ratings. No examination fee. Retake of exami-nation not applicable. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION There are no minimum age requirements. Must be in excellent physical and mental condition, and within acceptable weight limits. Must be of high moral character and have no criminal arrest / conviction record. Traffic violations will be evaluated. Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience as a police officer, judiciary or related criminal justice experience or expertise. Teaching experience in the area of judiciary, law enforcement, or related fields will be evaluated, as well as specialized training received in areas to be certified. Graduate study in any of the above areas will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, not to exceed two (2) years. SPECIAL COMMENTS or CONDITIONS Certification standards and review for certification are done by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council.
