License Description

Occupational Description


A Water-Based Fire Protection Contractor is a person engaged in the business of installation, repair, alternation, addition, maintenance, or inspection of water-based fire protection systems, and shall serve as the "Responsible Managing Employee (RME)."

Licensure Requirements


Applicants must submit a completed application, employer affidavit, employee affidavit, copy of Level III or IV NICET certification in Fire Protection Engineering Technology or Automatic Sprinkler Layout, citizenship attestation form, proof of insurance, and a $100.00 application fee. Applicants must also pass a written examination given by the Nebraska State Fire Marshal. If NICET or insurance expires before September, applicants must provide up-to-date copies as they are renewed.

Application Fee:  $100.00Renewal Fee:  $100.00 An employee cannot hold RME certification for more than one (1) company.

Renewal


All licenses expire on September 30th of each year and must be renewed yearly. Applicants must submit a completed application, employee affidavit, copy of Level III or IV NICET certification in Fire Protection Engineering Technology or Automatic Sprinkler Layout, proof of insurance and a $100.00 renewal fee. Applicants who fail to renew in September must reapply as a "new" applicant and re-test.
