License Description
ELECTRICIANS SOC Code 47-2111 Entry Salary $24.47/hr Average Salary $31.06/hr Job Description Electricians install wiring and maintain electrical equipment covered by the National Electrical Code. Limited electrical technicians and low voltage technicians maintain and install systems under 90 volts or specific items per license, as covered by the National Electrical Code. Requirements Apprentices: 1. Must be registered with the State Electrical Board, 2. Four years (576 hours) apprenticeship training. Journeyman: 1. Four years (8,000 hours) of work experience beyond apprenticeship training. 2 Pass written examination. Master: 1 Additional four years (8,000 hours) experience beyond journeyman license. 2.Pass written examination. Limited Technician (three types): 1. Years and hours of training dependent on license type. Contact licensing agency for more information. 2. Pass written examination. Low Voltage Technician (six types): 1. Years and hours of training dependent on license type. Contact licensing agency for more information. 2. Pass written examination. Continuing Education Journeyman and Master electricians are required to complete sixteen hours of continuing education units including eight from a code related source, within three years of licensee last renewal.
