COMPLIANCE OFFICERS, EXCEPT AGRICULTURE, CONSTRUCTION, HEALTH AND SAFETY, AND TRANSPORTATION SOC Code 13-1041 Entry Salary $26.91/hr Average Salary $32.01/hr Job Description Coroners and Deputy Coroners direct activities such as autopsies, pathological and toxicological analyses, and inquests relating to the investigation of deaths occurring within a county to determine cause of death or to fix responsibility for accidental, violent, or unexplained deaths. Requirements 1. Be a Wyoming resident. 2. Be an adult. 3. Hold a high school diploma or equivalent. 4. Submit to a background check. 5. Complete a Board approved basic coroners course within 1 year of appointment Continuing Education There are two levels of certification for Coroners: 1. Temporary Certificate: Certificate is valid for one year and certificate holder must attend basic training. 2. Basic Certificate: Certificate is issued after completion of basic training. Coroners must complete 20 hours of continuing training every 24 months. Restrictions Conviction of a felony. School Located in Wyoming Training is provided by the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy (WLEA) in Douglas, WY (http://www.wleacademy.com/). License Coroners and Deputy Coroners are certified by the Wyoming POST Commission. Examination Testing is conducted as part of training at the WLEA. Fees None.
