Doctoral Level licensure Without Supervision - Unlicensed
License Description
LICENSURE AT THE DOCTORAL LEVEL WITHOUT SUPERVISION - UNLICENSED EDUCATION 1. Doctoral Degree Applicants must possess a Ph.D. or Psy.D. or an Ed.D. in a clinical form of psychology. Degrees are granted by an accredited institution of higher learning, the degree must have been completed in a department of psychology, a department of educational psychology, a department of education and psychology, or in a university department with the official designation containing the words "psychology" or "psychological." 2. Accredited Graduate Degree Granting Institutions must be accredited by one of the six nationally recognized regional accrediting agencies which include: North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges. 3. Required Core Graduate Level Course work includes, but is not limited to, all of the following areas: clinical interviewing, diagnosis and treatment planning, psychopathology, biological bases of behavior, ethics, assessment of children and adults, individual psychotherapy, clinical practicum, clinical internship, and tests and measures. 4. Required Internship of 1,800 Hours or More: If the candidate completed a pre-doctoral internship which meets the requirement of at least 1,800 hours, she/he will be eligible to sit for an oral examination upon successful passage of the EPPP and submission of oral examination materials. Once these tasks have been completed, she/he will be scheduled for the next available oral examination. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS 1. Application: If your credentials meet the above cited criteria, contact the Board office for an application. All application materials and fees listed on the appropriate check list must be submitted for Board approval. Email: psychbd@wv.gov EXAMINATIONS 1. EPPP: All doctoral degree candidates are required to pass the EPPP with a score of 500 or greater. Candidates have 2 years to pass the examination and have 5 attempts to pass the test. Candidates may opt to become supervised psychologists in order to work in state prior to becoming licensed. Contact the Board office for additional information. 2. Oral Examination: After passing the EPPP, and completing 1 or 2 years of full time supervision, doctoral degree Supervised-Psychologists are eligible to sit for their oral
