License Description
REGISTERED NURSE
A registered nurse diagnoses and treats human responses to actual or potential physical and emotional health problems; may administer drugs; may assist in convalescence and rehabilitation; may provide health teaching, counseling, and other services designed to improve a patient's well-being; and may work in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, schools, retirement communities, health insurance organizations, or private residences.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A nursing degree from an approved nursing school within a college or university.
EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS:
National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RNr). A person who has been approved to take the registered nursing exam can practice as a "graduate nurse" without a license for 120 days if they graduated from a nursing program in the last 90 days.
CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must maintain competency requirements.
RENEWAL:
Renew every two years.
